    1) Suppressing an opposing viewpoint.

    2) Eliminating a threat.

    3) To obtain strategic resources.

    4) Humanitarian relief.

    5) To exercise control or influence over a wider range.

    6) To release your own constraints against an oppressive power.

    Despite all of it's negative drawbacks, sometimes war is necessary. The ability to wage war is the ability to decide your own fate. Without war, humans would be shackled down by narrow minded individuals, the greedy and those who wish to take advantage of the masses. The degree of freedom that we enjoy now would likely be unthinkable in a world without war.
