Can epilepsy cause memory loss?

I can tell you that after a Grand Mall Seizure you will develop what is called a Fugue. You will be disoriented and confused and some people lose the memory of the event or even the time leading up to their seizure.

You seem to be well maintained on your medication and this is why you don't suffer seizures anymore.

But if you are still experiencing memory loss, I would make an appointment to speak with the physician who prescribes your medications. You may need less of it. A medication adjustment might be in order.

Depends on the reason the epileptic is having seizures. Seizures stem from the brain, there are many problems that can go wrong in the brain that could cause a seizure. Some of those problems can cause memory loss and some don't. My Dad had epilepsy and never had memory problems.. I had brain surgery in 2001 because I was having seizures and they found a mass in my brain they said was the cause and it had to be removed. That mass was causing my memory loss, not the drugs (which I wasn't on till later) They removed the mass and some brain responsible for STM and to this day I still have memory loss but no more seizures since surgery

Well you aren't getting seizures because you are on medication, so regardless of any memory loss you need to be on it, or you'll return to having seizures again. The only short term memory loss I am aware of being recognized is that which you get immediately after a grand mal seizure.
