Really? You do NOT want new cabinets? Why not? Take a one-week vacation and return to new cabinets.

You have to allow it - but he needs to either find you somewhere else to live while the work is going on, or you can arrange to deduct the amount from your rent.
Speak with your landlord to see which option they'd prefer.

You can't refuse them entry. You have two choices, or rather, the landlord does. Pay for you to live in a hotel/motel for the five days while you pay your rent, or you pay to live somewhere and get a rent credit for the five days. You cannot legally interfere with a landlord making improvements to their property with advance notice. Refusal can get you evicted.

If the landlord wants you to leave for 5 days to update then yes you leave, you of course do not have to pay rent for those 5 days and if you are told you have to then the landlord will pay for your B&B/hotel for those 5 days

You cannot stop them, but I see no reason you cannot reside there while they do the work. If you have to be out, LL must refund you rent for those days.

A tenant has the right to stay at home while the repairs are going on but it is the duty of the landlord to keep the disruption to the minimum. In some cases when the repairs are major the tenant is required to leave the house for a short period of time or the landlord can also take steps to end your tenancy

The management company where I live is updating all apartments - after people move out and before they rent it out to someone new. Those of us who aren't moving could have them update our apartments if we wanted them to but then rent would go up over $100 a month - not worth it to me and no one else is doing it either.
Ask him why he can't wait until you move out? Is there asbestos and he hasn't a choice? Or why would you not want updating if it isn't going to increase your rent? Surely you could find someone to stay with for 5 days.

why do they want u to leave for 5 days? is there asbestos removal involved? we have 2 houses, were replacing kitchen in both of them - didn¨'t need to leave anywhere, we continued living normal life. it was chaotic in one room because everything should have been removed from the cabinets, but other than that no problems. only if they need to remove asbestos they must isolate the area and u can not be in the apartment or use the kitchen.

Firstly, when someone is offering you a updated kitchen for free, WHY on earth are you even considering denying entry to the workmen ??? That makes NO sense.
Secondly, there is NO need for you to move out when all they are updating is the kitchen area. OK, you are going to be living in chaos for a week, but it will be worth it.. So unless the landlord can accommodate you elsewhere, I would refuse to move out. I also suggest you empty the kitchen of your personal items, so nothing gets broken or damaged

Did he say you needed to be out 24/7 hours for 5 days? If so, then he either has to provide you other accommodations or you don't owe rent for that period.
If they just need access to the apartment, then you will have to let them in.
Don't forget that you should also remove your items from the existing cabinets. Otherwise, they are going to remove / replace them for you. (I wouldn't want them touching my stuff, maybe you don't care).
I don't get it when tenants aren't jumping for joy when improvements are occurring.
