How do you cope with missing someone?

I’m going to South Africa to backpack for two weeks and not taking my phone as there will be no signal. So I won’t be able to contact home. I will miss my parents and best friend so much, how do I cope with it?

You can write them letters while you are there and share them with them when you come back. 2 weeks is a small amount of time that will pass quickly, enjoy your time in a new place and meeting new people, taking pics if you can etc.

Don't worry about something is not in your control.

Don't be ignorant to the fact that you are away from your loved ones, but still try to ignore any annoying thoughts about wanting to go home. Think more about the fun you will have in South Africa and the possible friends and cultural experiences that might present themselves. :)
