What would happen if trump were to use an executive order to lower the drinking age to 18?

I don't think he can. States set the drinking age, not the federal government. Although if states lower the age to purchase alcohol below 21 then they lose 8% of their federal highway funds. At most, Trump could MAYBE rescind the 8% penalty.

Nothing, since it is the state that issues the drinking age and not the federal government. If you are arrested for underage drinking you are charged with a "state" crime. Not a Federal crime.

Not a damn thing. It is states that govern the drinking age in their respective states.

It was previously 21 before it was lowered to 18. It was lowered on the argument that if 18 year olds could fight in wars, they should be treated as adults across the board, which seems fair to me.

It's a state thing, not federal. He couldn't do it. It's not a good idea. It's been done around here.
