Depends on the marriage? Some the man beats his wife, she would not be made to stay in a marriage like that. what if the man refuses to work? The bible says then she is free from that man. What if he has and affair ? Then the marriage vow is broken and she is free from her vow. So lot's of things to consider and Jesus never said, she could not get a divorce he just said it is not a good idea.

I notice you said "Christians", sure, because in whatever denomination, they have their own sets of rules. However, in Catholicism, there is no such thing as "divorce". Only under extreme circumstances with the approval of the pope can the marriage of the couple be "annulled" (as if the marriage never happened). Without going through that hard process, if a person in the Catholic faith files for a divorce, it is not valid in the eyes of God, thus they are still married. Hope this clarified something!
