Why does my toenail always get infected for a few days after cutting it but then fine the rest of the time?
I cut my toenails every 2 weeks and the same nail is always infected for about 3 days (during that time I use a salt water soak and tea tree oil and it quickly goes away). For the next week and a half it is fine though but comes back when I cut again. I was thinking an ingrown toenail but wouldn't that be causing an infection all the time instead of just when it's cut?

Your clippers may have bacteria on so maybe worth sterilising them or you’re cutting he nail too short

I think you should throw away those clippers and buy new ones.
Also, clean you feet and soak them in a disinfectant wash, like Hibiclens
before you clip them, and don't clip them so short that you nick your skin !

Why are you cutting them every two weeks? I think once a month would be adequate - and maybe don't cut them so short.
It could be an ingrown toenail, and when you cut it (too short) it gets infected, then a few days later it probably grows enough to stop being irritated and becomes less inflamed or infected.
You should go to a nail salon and have a pedicure - they WON'T cut your nails too short and that would probably resolve the problem - that you seem to inflict on yourself.
