Relaxing a stretch in a carpet.?
So recently I had an area rug get wet when my portable A/C unit flooded. I figured it would dry faster if I put it outside since it's over 90*. I also figured having air circulation over AND under would help it to dry faster, so I tossed it over an engine cherry picker I had in my driveway. When I pulled it off a day later, the highest point of the cherry picker had made a 5" dia, 3" deep "stretch" in the carpet. Is there any way I can get that fabric to relax back to it's flat position? I've thought maybe renting a wallpaper steamer and steaming the area might relax the fibers and would help them pull back. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Lay carpet flat, with a plastic sheets under the stretched area.
Thoroughly dampen JUST the stretched area, and it should relax back on it's own.
