Do you think people unnecessarily purchase products to fulfil their self-definitional needs?

    It could be they fill that emptiness because something is missing in their life.

    Some people sure. Most people purchase things because they are as advertised, is something that they believe they will use or simply impulse of the moment. Advertisers like the young because they are the most gullible and impulsive.

    Not needs, wants. No one needs $500 designer jeans. That's all about status, not needs.

    The advertising industry creates cravings for consumer products that have nothing to do with real needs. Coca Cola anyone?
