What do you think of joke characters?
Characters in shows, movies, video games, anime, manga, and other media types who exist mainly for comic relief. I probably get out of bed in the morning for comic relief characters who turn out to be way deeper and more interesting than anybody thought they would be. But then, since they're still comic relief, they end up dying or something. It's so sad. What do you guys think?

Comic relief characters can be both comical and dull, both deep and shallow. but ultimately, it's not the tools, it's how you use them that makes all the difference. Comical or dull, deep or shallow, doesn't matter for so long as the character is properly used within the story that the author wants to convey,
In other words, it's not the character, but how you use it that makes it worthwhile, whatever that may mean to both the story and the character.
