I will begin with the bible and conversion. There are many examples

that are not evident, without a close examination. Able would be the

first, Joshua, the servant of Moses was from the

tribe of Ephraim, and Joshua with the filthy rags and how about

Samson, who needed to have his eyes removed in order to see

what the real world was about.

I will proceed to the New Covenant and there we have Nicodemus,

the woman caught in adultery the young man who spent his father's

inheritance and many more. What did they have in common? 1096

is shared by all. When the time came, they all jumped up and awoke

from sleep. What do all have in common? It took almost an earthquake

    to wake them up!

It was no different for me nor my spouse. We don't know our actual

condition, now do we??What condition are we in when we are

invited by the Lord? For some,it would be somewhat embarrassing

to disclose.I thought I was looking after my wife making sure that

she was not joining a cult. We arrived late,we thought! The evangelist

was reading about what the Lord suffered. At that moment in time,I

joined His team.I felt myself going up,elated. All things were new!

Maybe after 45 years,I could say that. What is conversion? I think

that it is a lifetime process of learning to worship, obey, be

thankful and continue this process for ever.

Understand first that water baptism is not a part of the Gospel and can never be added as a condition for receiving eternal life (1 Cor. 1:17). No one can be saved by rituals or works of any kind.

Because we have all sinned against a perfectly holy and righteous God, we all deserve eternal separation from God in hell (Rom. 6:23). However, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross as our Substitute so we don't have to go to hell. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave three days later (1 Cor. 15:3-4). He gives eternal life freely to anyone who simply believes in Him. No one can be saved by doing good works. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9).

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" (John 6:47).

The conversion experience is according to Gal. 3:27-28, and Acts 22:16. Compare Col. 2:12, Acts 2:38, Rom. 6:1-5.

    Conversion is a Turning Back.

Repentance marks a halt in the person’s wrong course, the rejection of that wrong way, and the determination to take a right course. If genuine, it will therefore be followed by “conversion.” Acts 15:3

Both in Hebrew and in Greek the verbs relating to conversion mean simply turn back, turn around, or return.

Used in a spiritual sense, this can refer to either a turning away from God (hence turning back to a sinful course or a turning to God from a wrong way.
