    Of the three possibilities, combustion is the only certain oxidation. The other two might be oxidations, but they also might not.

    I cover typical reaction types in my answer here

    /question/index?qid=20190...

    you need to know those general reactions

    ********

    oxidation means an increase in "oxidation state"

    example

    .. 1 CH4 + 2 O2 ----> 1 CO2 + 2 H2O

    on the left,

    .. the C is in the -4 oxidation state.

    on the right

    .. the C is in the +4 oxidation state

    the oxidation state of C increased so C is oxidized.

    See if that example is like any of the generic equations in that link.
