Why is May a popular month for businesses?

In many example problems used in business classes, the month of May is commonly used. What is the deal with May being a popular month in these sorts of industries?

    Well, in the UK the new tax year starts in April, so May could be part of the

    'new' years business deals, contracts e.t.c.

    Because school lets out in June, the second quarter ends in June, people are on vacation in July and August and May has the least letters of all the months.

    Tax time is over, they have their new budget.

    It's the start of the summer quarter.
