Why does Jesus say "Holy Spirit baptism SAVES" in Mark 16:16 but most "Christians" believe they're saved by everything else but?

Update:

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM INCLUDING JUST BELIEVING BUT DON'T KNOW ***WHAT*** TO BELIEVE (ROMANS 10:14-15)?

DON'T TRY AND TELL ME MARK 16:16 IS REFERRING TO A WATER BAPTISM LIKE THE RELIGION OF CHRISTIANITY HAS TAUGHT YOU BECAUSE YOU KNOW GOOD AND WELL THERE WERE NO "SIGNS FOLLOWING" (MARK 16:17-18) YOUR WATER BAPTISM!

    I. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

II. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

III. One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

IV. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one’s own.

    V. Beliefs should conform to one’s best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one’s beliefs.

VI. People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one’s best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

VII. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word

It does not say "Holy Spirit baptism", but says only that baptism is necessary. In context it is water baptism. When the Ethiopian eunuch was converted, he received water baptism explicitly (Acts 8:36-39). Water baptism was already the practice of the Church.

Not only that, but when some converts were receive who had *already received the Holy Spirit*, they were baptized in water. Acts 10:44-48. Please read carefully. There is no scriptural justification for rejecting water baptism.

    Forgive me.

Any attempt to edit can force any personal agenda, 2 Peter 1:20. Compare 2 John 9, Mt. 7:15, Ac. 20:29-30, 2 Ti. 4:1-4.

We have to be born of water and of spirit to be saved. We receive the Spirit when we accept Yeshua as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized in the Holy Spirit through water immersion and prayer - and not necessarily in that order.

The words "Holy Spirit" are not in Mark 16:16. You have drawn an incorrect conclusion, and have added to the scriptures. (Rev. 22:18-19)

  • The prefiguration and prophecy of water baptism is all over the Old Testament;

—At the very dawn of creation

your Spirit breathed on the waters,

making them the wellspring of all holiness.13 (Genesis)

—The Church has seen in Noah's ark a prefiguring of salvation by Baptism, for by it "a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water":14

—The crossing of the Red Sea, literally the liberation of Israel from the slavery of Egypt, announces the liberation wrought by Baptism:

You freed the children of Abraham from the slavery of Pharaoh,

bringing them dry-shod through the waters of the Red Sea,

to be an image of the people set free in Baptism.16

All these events required real water to save the people (because it was foreshadowing of baptism

Is this the only inconsistency of Christianity that bothers you? There are hundreds.

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

You have glorified in your shame long enough Norine.

Mark 15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
