I have a problem with procrastination. How can I best stop? What are some methods that are effective in combating procrastination?

I'm a student and I have a major problem with procrastination. What are ways I can stop procrastinating/get better at being disciplined and getting my work done?

Please give me an answer other than "just do it" or "have more discipline". Those are obvious answers. I know I need to work on that. However, I'm asking on yahoo answers because I would like advice on any methods/ways that are less obvious in which I can combat procrastination.

Thank you.

Set realistic small goals with a you time task inbetween to reward yourself.  Write them down, say 1-3 items, then 15 to 20 minute something fun, then 1-2 more small tasks, or whatever. But you keep at it until the small "bites" are accomplished. You set up to fail if you set a huge large unrealistic task because its daunting.

Make a schedule of what you're going to do and when.  If you have a test coming up, schedule yourself a little bit of time each day to study for it, and indicate what material you're going to study each time.  If you have a project due, schedule time to work on it.  If it becomes part of a schedule, then it's easier to remember to do it and make yourself do it.
