There are many tips such as how much to increase each time, lubricants, tapers.  But the best tip of all is to consult a professional piercer before you begin.  You'll be directed on the proper technique and products.

Go to the toilets of a shitty bar, find a hole in one of the cubicle walls and put your ear up to it and wait.

Yes, my biggest tip is GO SLOWLY. Don't rush it. Trust me. It can take a full year to stretch your ears to even a 0g., but the slower you go, the less likely you will deal with tearing, ripping, and keloids and if you ever want to go back to smaller holes, you can this way and not have to blow your ears out.

Also, lube is your friend. Don't force anything, either. Once you get to the bigger gauges, you will need longer to heal, as well. A good trick I learned was to gently tug on your ears and the eyelets (ONCE THEY ARE HEALED!) to get them more loose and ready for the next size up. I only have mine stretched to a 0g., but I was also young, dumb, and skipped many steps. My ears are ruined. Don't be like me, friend! Learn from my old ***, LOL :)

Go slow and use plenty of lube, no forcing, and be patient!
