2019 Buick Encore acceleration issue.?

27 k miles.  I was in stop and go traffic.  Hitting almost every red light.  When accelerating after the lights turned green it was a very slow acceleration and the RPMs jumped to 5k until I reached 30 mph the the car ran smoothly.  This happened on a slight uphill.  I did not floor it at the lights.  I like to gradually accelerate.  The only thing I can think of there was a slight snow dusting overnight and was 20 degrees when this happened and the traction control may have kicked in.

Update:

Also am going to call my dealership on Tuesday since the car is still under warealty.

Sounds like the transmission is slipping. Just tell them the tachometer goes up high and the car doesn't move. That way they will check the tranny while it's still under warranty. I wouldn't mention any snow or possible tires slipping. That will just give them an excuse not to fix the transmission under warranty.
