How do you solve this Statistics & Math Question!   ?

A GSS asked, "what do you think is the ideal number of children for family to have? For the 555 males in the sample, the mean was 2.89 and the standard deviation was 1.77.

-What is the standard error of the sample mean?

-What's the 95% confidence interval for the population mean?

I suppose GSS is a government social scientist??  Oh well.

Anyway the standard error of the sample mean is

    (1.77) / sqrt(555) = 0.07513.

The 95% confidence interval will be bounded by z-scores of +/-1.96.

    0.07513 x 1.96 = 0.147, round to 0.15.

So the 95% confidence interval is 2.74 to 3.04.
