Tattoos hurt😂that’s all. She likes body art, but doesn’t like the pain that comes with getting them. That’s totally natural because most humans don’t like pain, they like the result of pain.

You know how it can hurt when you poop out a big, dry one, but when you finish it feels so, so good?  Same thing kinda 

There have been a lot of messages on one of these boards about people (mostly women) who cut themselves when they are under stress. I didn't understand it so I looked it up. It seems that pain, from cutting or getting a tattoo, releases endorphins that makes people feel better. So it can become an addiction, much like drinking to ease the stress or taking drugs to ease the stress. The problem is that getting tattoos is not recognized as a psychological problem. It sounds like your girlfriend is seeking the tattoos as a way of getting this kind of relief. You can try asking about what stresses her, or what experiences she has, but she may not tell you. 

Getting a tattoo is very painful so that is why she was making those faces. Many people who love tattoos think it is worth the pain and the price to get them and feel proud of them and like to show them off. Not me though. I would never get one and I find it hard to understand myself but to each their own.
