Some obviously do. For instance, in the face of clear, condemning facts, Republicans are stating forcefully that Trump did nothing wrong and committed no impeachable offenses. They are attempting to confuse by simply stating the opposite of the truth and common sense.

I personally believe there are some politicians who genuinely tell the truth. I've seen it mostly from Republicans, but some Democrats have been good about it as well. In the 2,000's the gears obviously flipped, with Dick Cheney and all, but it seems as though it's a cycle of some sort of who lies to you more. All politicians will lie to their constituents at some point, always to stay in power. For instance, I feel terrible for the people in my district, because they're always conned by a Democrat. It doesn't matter to me if it's a Republican or independent who wins that seat, but what annoys me is they promise all these things and say "I'll do this for you!" and then everyone gets conned. The same thing could probably happen if another party took over, but more often than not they only represent their party, not the people.

Absolutely. Politics is the willful manipulation of facts, context and reality.
