  • Is it abusive to make someone think they’re your friend for years, then tell them you always hated them?

About a couple years ago, I tried apologizing to an old friend of mine for giving them a hard time. I actually loved this friend, very heavily, and she knew this too. The issue is, when I went to apologize and right my wrongs, she told me that she always hated me, from the very beginning. That she never cared about me, and that apparently she was only friends with me for almost 4 years because she didn’t want me to kill myself. I messed up heavily with her, but not to this level. We had been friends for so long, and so early in life. I genuinely believed we were, but I guess she never did according to her… how do I characterize this properly?

I think to this day, it’s heavily affected my love life, as I haven’t had the confidence to ask any women out, and haven’t had any trust in any women for years as a result.

  • Afghanistan and Iraq Vets, how did you feel about the war?

I've been thinking about going into the Army as an ROTC Cadet and an aspiring commissioned officer, but one thing I've noticed by watching some vets is they felt distaste toward their officers for not caring about them. So I figured I'd leave it open here for Afghanistan and Iraq Vets to share their stories and how they felt about the war. I know a lot of people just listen to the media and go from there, but I'd like to actually hear from the vets themselves and hear what they thought about the war.

PS: Guys, let's not have any arguments, I'd just like to hear their perspectives and their stories. Thanks

  • Can you burn the flag of a former country in the United States?

This one's out of curiosity. We see people burn the American flag, but what about other flags? Like the flags of France, the (former) USSR, China, the UK, and so on? Is that prohibited or do people actually do it and are allowed to?

  • What does it mean when a girl sends you something she thinks you’re interested in?

I don’t want to misinterpret what she sent, but out of the blue a friend of mine (who I also like, but we’re not close friends and don’t talk very often) sent me something she though I’d have been interested in. Again, we’re really not that close, to the point where we’ll text each other every now and then, but this is the first time she ever sent me anything she thought I was interested in, so I just want to set the record straight so I’m not confused.

  • When's the right time to say goodbye to the people who meant the most to you before college?

My school's unlikely to return to session for the rest of the year, and I'm currently unable to see anyone. I was planning on writing letters to my friends and sending them via mail, to make it sentimental, but when would be a good time to do this?

  • VMI vs Norwich?

I'm currently trying to decide between VMI and Norwich, and I'd like to see if anyone out there has experience with either school and would like to expand upon it.

#1 Thing I should say, MY MAIN CONCERN IS COMMISSIONING AS AN OFFICER IN THE US ARMY. So keep that in mind when responding.

The Majors I'm looking at are:

    History/ Military History

    Political Science

FYI I received a National Army ROTC 4 year scholarship, so costs aren't a very big deal to me right now. However, I've got to decide by May 1st, and was hoping people from either school might be able to give me insight.

  • Do I have to have my drivers license to do DODMERB?

I found out you need to bring your Driver's license to MEPS, but I was wondering if the same rule applies to DODMERB. I'm asking because I've been trying to get my DL, but the RMV is closed since they're "non essential" services in my state. Could I just bring my state ID for the time being instead?

  • Is it healthy to run the 2 mile two weeks in a row (TRACK RUNNERS PLEASE, also need answered fast, need to tell my coach ASAP)?

I m in indoor track, and I badly want to qualify or at least come close to qualifying for my conference two mile. I had one chance yesterday, but I stitched up and didn t finish with a good time. My PR is an 11:03, and I know I m capable of running that or faster. Problem is I only have one other chance to run it again, and if I do it means running it two weeks in a row. So for any distance runners who are on track, if I were to do this for a single time where I ran the two mile a second time, one week after the last, would that be a smart decision (health wise) so I can go for the qualifying time?

  • Is it wrong to date my sister's friend who's also my friend?

There's a girl I like currently who's in my grade, but she's also close friends with my younger sister. I've known this girl for about 4 years now, all throughout High School, and I didn't really start having feelings, and I mean strong feelings for her until August of this year. We've got differing political opinions (she's liberal, I'm conservative), but surprisingly we do have similar interests. I enjoy the arts, she loves them. On top of that I also love to sing, and so does she.

Moving on though, my sister claimed when I brought it up that I liked her that it was "gross" and she didn't want me mingling with her friends. I really can't understand my sister's logic, especially considering that this could benefit her more than it could hurt her. It's ironic because people usually associate her with being a good person, but it's really moreso me who is that way. Now my sister's preventing me from being able to even ask this girl on a date, and I really like this girl.

I have plans to try and get a commission in the army when I get out of high school, and I REALLY want to try and make this work. I really do like her, but I don't know what to do now that my sister has said what she's said.

  • Why is it people believe conservatives are evil?

I just got out of a debate with someone who claims they’re a centrist, and also claims centrists are more respectable than either side. They proceeded to yell and scream and blatantly lie about conservatives. As a conservative myself, I’m curious as to where this trope came from. I’m not interested in labeling any group or party by a definition that doesn’t fit them, as I believe in treating people as individuals and not as a false label that doesn’t totally describe them.

So for those who could answer, why is it people believe conservatives (IN AMERICA) are evil? And for those of you who believe people like me are evil, why is it that you choose to make an assumption about a whole group of people knowing next to nothing about them?

  • I’m going into my senior year Track and Field, and I want to run a really good season by getting down to a 4:30 mile. How can I do that?

My Mile PR from Junior year is a 5:14,

    800: 2:18

5K: 18:21(Senior Year, although if I hadn’t gotten injured I would likely be running a sub 18 minute 5K currently)

    2 Mile: 11:03

I personally believe I can do this, because I really want to run D1 track at some school, and I want to push myself as much as I can to do it. So how can I do it?

  • I’m a conservative in my senior year of High School. What are my chances of making something work with someone across the political aisle?

I know I know. Some people who respond to this are gonna make the claim of “You’re a racist homophobic islamaphobe bigot who supports Hitler and wants to kill immigrant children” (when that’s not even what actual conservatives believe so please look it up instead of repeating media and left wing talking points), but I’m in a situation in my life where I’ve started to realize all the girls I have liked have been Liberal. There was one girl who was a conservative that I loved, but she always pushed me away. I haven’t felt the same since. I don’t mind the idea of dating someone who is the opposite side of the aisle, but given today’s day and age I’m just not entirely sure if it can work out. I’m a senior in high school, and most of the girls in my school are liberal, correction: every single one that I know is. There have been some that I’ve felt attracted to, but never made a move on and this one reason has led me to deliberately kill my feelings for people because I felt it would cause too much tension. So from people who have experience dating on opposite ends of the political aisle, what should I do?

  • Why is it people die when their wrists are slit, but if someone’s hand is blown off they can survive?

This one’s been in my head for a while, to me, it just doesn’t make sense.

  • Why is it that the media cares about the most irrelevant crap about Trump?

I mean seriously? How much time do they spend bickering over a few words Trump said versus his actual policies that he's putting in place?

  • Is it possible to snap your own neck and kill yourself? ASKING BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED WITH JEFFREY EPSTEIN?

I think everyone knows the new about Epstein, and right now I’ve come down to two options as to how he could’ve killed himself.

    1. He snapped his own neck

    2. He bashed his head in

But even I’m doubting option 1, as I don’t know if it’s physically possible. Option 2 seems far more likely BUT we don’t have any photos of him or his jail cell currently. So my question, is it possible for someone, in this case epstein, to snap his own neck and kill himself?
