Is mid-July a good time to travel to Phuket for a holiday?
My hubby, me and two kids are planning to go to Phuket for a holiday in mid-July for the Perth school holidays as we have never traveled to Asia before. Just wondering what weather should we expect. I heard that Dec, Jan and Feb are the best times to travel their but we can't travel at those times so July is our only option.

July is the low season in Thailand because it is the rainy season. This means that you can expect rain in the late afternoon on most days. It really does not destroy your day but it can interrupt your plans for the day. Like others have said Phuket is the most expensive area in Thailand. Koh Samui should have better weather in July. Krabi would be nice too but it can also be affected by the rain.

Yes good time...low season so everything will be a bit cheaper....personally I would recommend Pattaya that's half the price of Phuket...or Philippines bisayas islands.

The place is overcrowded so try other resort places in Thailand or other countries.
July is a very hot month in Thailand.
