I was thinking in nations like Communist China Nazi Germany Iraq before the war I know there’s supreme leader seize power  and the next leaders where in perfect by the previous one but for smaller levels of government like the mayor how did he get get in

    Where I live, people apply for the job, and some committee picks the best applicant - somewhat influenced by how many mayors every party has in the country already, compared to how many seats in parlement etc.

    They hold an election containing 1 candidate. All people vote. If the vote count is a positive number, the candidate becomes mayor.
