Margaret Thatcher ordering President George H.W. Bush to send military forces to the Persian Gulf, President Bush building up a huge global coalition, Margaret Thatcher getting the British Commonwealth to stand with the US and its allies, the M-1 Abrams tank, the Stealth bomber/fighter, smart bombs, Cruise and Patriot missiles and the use of overwhelming force.

1.) An excellent job by the commander n chief President George Bush Sr. (not his dopey son jr. who came later).

2.) An excellent job by Secretary of State Jim Baker.

These 2 were real pro national leaders, they got the whole UN/ EU/ NATO/ UK to back us making a truly unbeatable world coalition of awesome military power.

3.) The awesome military power, was truly awesome...700,000 frontline 1st world troops (550,000 US)….5,000 tanks....10,000 aircraft, Iraq stood no chance at all.

4.) Excellent US General Colin Powell managed the War from Washington.

5.) Excellent US General Norman Schwarzkopf managed on the field.

These 2 Generals in a lightening blitzkrieg used air power to utterly destroy all Iraq and ex Soviet defenses, then in classic form flanked the enemy and hit the Iraqi army flank, front, and rear.

UK and all NATO helped, even the UN....Iraq total military wiped out, 200,000 dead soldiers, our side lost 50-100 killed.

The entire War was totally won and over in about 3 months.

    Source(s): I was there.
