Is it a smart idea to call into work because of the coronavirus?

I work at a pizza place and deal with customers and stuff. And I dont even want to leave my house because of this. My boss is making it out to be like I'm overreacting about all this. Should I call in??

You ARE over-reacting. If you call in, and you can't show you have been exposed to someone that is sick, your resignation WILL be accepted.

If you want a job, I suggest calling in.

Do you have any symptoms related to the coronavirus?  No?   Then go to work.   Make sure you follow the recommendations per the CDC.

Does "call in" mean "call in sick"?  No. COVID-19 is not dispersed in air it can "live" for about 3 days on hard surfaces like lintels and money, unlike a lot of diseases.  But carry something like Purell in your vehicle, and use it.

Don't let the panic get to you. Healthy people only have very mild symptoms. It's mostly dangerous to those with underlying heart and lung problems. You hand the customers the pizza box, right? And take their money- that's really the only contact. Unless they've been sneezing and coughing all over the money, that shouldn't be a problem. Just go and wash your hands once an hour, and keep your hands away from your face until you've washed them thoroughly.

Sounds like you're over-reacting.   Just wash your hands,  stay 3 feet away from people and you should be fine.  Hopefully,  anything that customers touch is being wiped down with a disinfectant  several times a day.

This situation is very likely to last until sometime in 2021, so it depends on how long you can go without work.  I think you should don some protective gear and get used to the new normal, otherwise you will need a new job.  Being outside mostly you should be protected.  Just use common sense.
