Actually thousands of years later in Hebrews it says he was still in his rest day. He probably took billions of years to create the earth and planet make it habitable. All the amazing plants and animals. He was only using days he said was symbolic to mean time periods. Some days he called thousand years. Others thousands of years. So it was not literal.
