Is it smart to buy shares from Sony at this point ? ?

I was thinking about the stock market and though of the idea that Sony is releasing the ps5 later this year, which means the market will go on favor of sony

Is it a good idea to buy a few shares ??

No. Sony management is facing many problems and the company is facing intense competition from Samsung and other companies.

If i were you, I would not buy the shares.

You are confusing new products with the amount of sales and profit they generate. Since electronics is a planned obsolescence industry, releasing a new console to prop up sales is a cost of doing business. With the virus, people will have less surplus cash to spend on fancy new electronics, so a new expensive product may not sell that well. Let's go back 10 years or so and remember those PS3 has no games jokes (compared to Xbox 360). You're also ignoring that Sony has various media subsidiaries, so it's not just an electronics business.

Frankly, Sony's glory days are long over. It's not like in the 80s and 90s where Sony's trinitron TVs were still under patent protection and the Walkman was king. Back then, it can charge more for a superior product and in the case of TVs, give its competitors the middle finger. These days it has way more competition. Apple, Korean brands like Samsung, XBOX (Microsoft), and more recently, Chinese brands are more likely to be your preferred source for high end electronics.

Personally I would wait.  I think things are going to get even worse.  Of course I have no money, so I wouldn't be buying stocks regardless.

depends on what the stock does in the future and that is anybody's guess. Rest assured that people smarter than you have known about ps5 before you so its already priced in.

Its out of the price points I stick to, so I wouldnt. If stocks around that price is what you go for, it will probably make some coin for you. Id wait, though, if you are def. going to buy. Wait for a pull back. Maybe $5-$7 less.

You don't buy stock directly from the company, youy must use a brokerage account.

Market move not based on buyers, nor company products or financials.
