My employee quit suddenly today. Do you think his excuse was lame?

My employee asked to take the day off today to work on his car and I said sure. Later he texted me and said that he is going to take some time off working and he probably won't be back. I said so you really didn't have car trouble? He said he did. Then I said well that's fine but it would have been better if you had given at least a week's notice. He didn't respond.

Lame.  They guy sounds like a loser.  Give him a bad reference.  He owed you TWO weeks' notice.

Well I am in the process of finishing a job based website, so if you are interested then you could post a job on my website when it's finished. My website is already online. I still have a little bit more work to do on it, and I am going to test it out again just to make sure it works.

I don't know if you would want another employee, or perhaps you prefer to use a different option to find a new employee.

Well I think you should move on instead of being stuck on this issue.

Hi. you obviously did not treat him well in his time in company so please do not ever blame him.

    Be a better employer.

    Please be more reasonable.

Is yours a million dollar company?

    Sighzzzz.

Most people give a 2 week notice, its just the professional thing to do, but thats not always the case so just move on.  Its not required.

Yes, not that it changes anything.

If you want a week’s notice, put it in the contract.

That's pretty lame.  If you had fired him with no notice, he'd be screaming "that can't be legal, you can't do that".
