What's Your Opinion Of U2?

Excellent band, both on stage and in the studio.  The problem is their lead singer.

The problem isn't his singing, it's his egotistical preaching.  Fans pay to hear their music, not to listen to Bono give a lengthy political lecture about African poverty.  

some good songs here and the but some way too depressive and if you're a loner it gets unbearable

I like U2 a lot. I dont know why. The Edges ringing echo'd guitar is one big reason. 

BQ: Boy

I don't like them, I find their music pretentious and overblown. I did quite like their very early albums but they lost me with 'The Unforgettable Fire', which was when I think they started to disappear up their own fundaments.

BQ: War (although 'least disliked' is closer than 'favourite', I haven't listened to it in probably 20 years).

U2 was great in the 80s. Boy is a great album, and I love War & The Unforgettable Fire. The Edge was a brilliant guitarist; he had this ethereal, effects-laden style that emphasized the anthemic qualities of U2's music. Larry Mullen, Jr. was great on War & The Unforgettable Fire.

It's not THEM I can't stand, it's Bono. I just don't like his voice at all. I think they are ok.
