Hands down the best thing for carbon is Easy Off oven cleaner, as long as you keep it away from bare aluminum or plastic. I have noticed that here is a bias on this forum against using anything not specifically made for guns.

That depends, a lot of people use Rem Oil; however, there are definitely better lubricants. I use FP-10 for most of my guns, but I'll occasionally use Rem Oil if I don't have FP-10 available.

I use Hoppe's No. 9 for cleaning and Rem Oil for lubing. I've been using both for decades and see no reason to switch as both work well.
