Spine specialist diagnosed me without examining me?

Not sure if this is common practice? But went to a spine specialist after over a year of lower back pain and described all my symptoms. The doctor without examining me or looking at my MRI told me I have a disc bulge and need to get an epidural steroid shot in my back for the pain. I was kinda off out that he just "knew" what was wrong. I know he has probably seen this a thousand times and maybe does know? But the fact that he didn't examine me or anything seemed kinda strange to me. Your thoughts?

Why are you assuming that he didnt look at the MRI?

Maybe trying to avoid more testing because of Covid? But yeah, it would normally require some sort of scans.

How do you know that he didn't see your MRI?

He's the specialist and you are free to get a second opinion...from another specialist,  not YA!
