The Earth is split into 3 MAIN layers .. but each layer can then be sub-divided into 2.
The top layer is called the CRUST .. the Oceanic and the Continental Crust.
The next layer is called the MANTLE .. the Upper and Lower Mantle.
The center if the Earth is called the CORE .. the Inner and Outer Core.
The Crust is made of SOLID rock .. and the Mantle is made of LAVA (LIQUID rock).
