Is it wrong to shoot your shot at a girl your friend use to go out with ?

I ran into a friend at the store I work at, and we kind of had a brief conversation. We haven’t seen each other in a while especially with this whole COVID 19 thing, and I asked how’s everything he told me how **** was. Then he asked me I told him everything is going well.. just getting ready to move, so I can go to college. He told me his ex girlfriend goes to the same school I’m going to.. I asked how is she she’s about my age 21.. 22. Then he was like go for it.. shoot your shot.. I was like you sure? He was like yea doesn’t matter to me. So I want to know will it be kind of ****** up to do that?
