Marine Corps veterans opinions of jarhead?
Did you enjoy the movie? Did you think it portrayed the corps accurately? I have seen a lot of war movies and this one was terrific despite some artistic fiction. I almost lost it seeing the Vietnam vet get on the bus and be so excited to welcome the platoon home. When I came home from Iraq the 2nd time the local vfw was at the airport we fueled up at en route to cherry point and those guys were so excited to greet us and sing the marine corps hymn and now that it is me to the young guys returning. Anyway I kept reading it was disappointing but it is my favorite marine corps movie now.

Not a Marine veteran but it's well above average of The Hollywood garbage.

It's a good enough movie. I favor Full Metal Jacket, because it was closer to my era, and more my experience. At least the Boot Camp part.
