How to ask to be a team leader at work?
Hey guys,
So I work for a large supermarket chain in the deli department. Currently at night time I’m the only full time person so I’m the go to person for all problems already and I’m a few years older than the other staff so one of the more mature ones. I want to ask my manager if I can turn my position into a leadership position but not sure how to ask. If I ask her will it just look like I’m after more pay? Which doesn’t even worry me. Some staff don’t listen to me because we’re the same position so I thought it might help with that? Any advice welcome

Simple-
Ask your manager if you can have 5-10 minutes of their time so you're not torpedoing them.
In the meeting, point out what you've been doing and that you'd like to find about a path to a leadership/management role. A good manager will offer constructive feedback on how to get there (or offer you a chance). A bad one will ignore you.
Speak up. Lean in.

You can't become a team leader if the position isn't available, just speak to them and say that if a team leader position comes available, I would like to put myself forward for the position.
