What does it mean when a college graduate have more options?

I have pick up a CUNY brochure and it says the facts: college graduates... have more options, get better jobs, and earn more to support themselves and their families. More options means what? Depending what major the student studies, or what he/she has done for employment before, in others words what is on the resume?

    Many jobs have either limited career paths, or are closed completely, to those without a 4 year college degree.
