Should Yahoo bring back the comments on news articles?

Yahoo has shut down comments for one reason! That reason is that Conservatives and Independents were dominating the conversations and pushing back against the Liberal narrative.  Its time to find another search engine that allows comments.  Yahoo did not like the free flow of opinions, because it contradicted theor own political views, period.

Yes Yahoo should bring back the comments. Yahoo is boring without the comments. I can read news articles anywhere. The comments were the best thing about Yahoo.

No. Just read the articles; that's what a news site is. If you're a righting Qanon MAGAtroll you will be upset; go purge yourself on Parler, losers.

I don't care on a personal level.  Yahoo are unusual in that they are one of the few news sites that haven't got rid of or severely restricted commenting when most did over ten years ago.  In the long run they'll have to decide whether it costs more to maintain than the revenue it brings in via user engagement.  Reading people's comments it clear that most people don't have a clue how much upkeep internet architecture requires just to be functional on a basic level before actually moderating the contents.

On a more abstract level I think that they're being responsible to suspend commenting until after the election.  They don't seem to have the capacity for the level of moderation required to combat political troll farms. I really wish people didn't use terms like "troll" and "bot" for comments they disagree because that just fuels people with conspiracy theory leanings and makes it very difficult to express why troll farms are dangerous.

No. Have you seen some of the threats in Politics?

When Yahoo did the SAME THING in 2016 and 2012, comments DID come back AFTER the presidential election.
