Best laptops for college students ?

Hi there, I’m in a college and I really need a laptop. I had an HP touchscreen, Intel 7th gen. It was a very good laptop for two years but then the screen crashed. Is there any good laptops in the price range of  $500? I’m not that worried about memory because I use mainly google docs. Thanks!

If the screen "crashed" it would be a better option to get it repaired. If the laptop died, then looking a basic laptop would be cheaper than $500. Looking at the Acer Aspire series, Swift series and similar laptops will provide a decently spec'd laptop in the price range you're looking at. It won't handle gaming but should handle all college tasks without a problem.

It'd be a darn sight cheaper to get the screen replaced, then you can carry on using your "very good laptop".

I would say spend around $800 and get a gaming laptop that way you can not only write papers but also do stuff like computer programming and graphic design if you do end up taking classes like that in the future.
