Should I see a doctor for a sprained ankle?
Hello, yesterday afternoon I missed a step on my stairs and took a hard fall. I started icing it right away and kept it elevated, really swollen. Today, it still hurts to walk, blue/purple ish color bruise and it's swollen almost up to my calf muscle. I'm also doing small and slow exercises for my foot and ankle. It's really hard to move it certain ways it hurts like hell, or I can't fully move it certain directions. I already called off work for tomorrow, there's no way I'm on my feet on a 12-hour shift. Should I go ahead and see a doctor to make sure it's not also a fracture?

A general rule of thumb is: "if it's swelling go to the doctor"
There's a chance you just sprained it very, *very*, badly but what you're describing sounds a lot like a broken fibula. You should definitely get to an emergency room as soon an physically possible as you could do further damage to the bone that may be permanent. In fact, just call an ambulance right now.

Yes, you need an X-ray and you need to stop trying to move it or exercise it as it’s making more damage. Get off it completely as much as possible
