Trump is blamed for 173,000 Covid deaths.  Is he responsible for every single one?

If Hillary Clinton were president, would we have 0 deaths?  Fewer?

What would she have done differently - locked the entire country down in February?  And if the US had any deaths under her watch, would she be 100% liable, as Trump is for every single death?

Just trying to quantify Trump's culpability.  Should it be offset by things like Nancy Pelosi insisting it's ok to join the festivities in Chinatown for the Chinese New Year (and racist to suggest otherwise)?

No.  He is responsible for most of them.  The number for which he is not responsible is the number that we would have if he wasn't President.  Which isn't zero, but it's very close.  We know that because we know the numbers from other countries.  What Hillary would have done would be what they did -- and our numbers would be like theirs.

Lock down procedures are up to mayors not the president. Your government is written so your president doesnt have sole power. How covid is handled is up to the mayors not the president. Heard an example of newyork being at fourth stage so no sight of lockdown ending and there have been no deaths there. I would have to agree with a particular presenter that it appears blue mayors are ill handling covid to use to smear trump. An example of this is Pelosi she has knocked back welfare/help packages several times then went on dnc and blamed trump for it basically hes not handling covid right thats why theyre all suffering meanwhile shes knocked back states getting help several times. Seriously ive been watching tim pool for at least a couple of years. Guy was a solid blue check however he cared about news presenting facts. Been solid blue his whole life. Just stated yesterday that hes now a single issue voter and he'll be voting for trump this election. Yeah I watched a life long blue crack #walkaway.

Comparing the USA to Canada is irrelevant, and shows a complete lack of understanding of statistics and the nature of this virus. The people who make this comparison are either ignorant or willfully and intentionally spreading misleading information.

One of the few things we know with absolute certainty about this virus is that it spreads more easily in large, densely populated areas. That's why large cities like New York, Houston and Seattle are such hot spots for infections. Its also why some countries with relatively dense populations such as Italy have been hit so hard. Public policy and treatment methods may make things slightly better or worse, but its undisputed that given the same circumstances large dense cities are far worse than sparsely populated rural areas.

Canada has a lower per-capita infection rate because it has far fewer large dense cities.

The USA and Canada each have 1 city with a population over 5 million (New York and Toronto). But NY is almost 50% larger than Toronto with 8.1 million people whereas Toronto has about 5.5 million.

The USA has 10 cities with a population over 1 million whereas Canada has only 5.

Cities over 1/2 million people? - The USA has 37, Canada has 10.

Cities over 100k people? USA has 317, Canada has only 30

Bottom line: people living in large dense cities in Canada aren't any safer than people living in large dense cities in the USA, there are just far more people who fit that description in the USA than in Canada.

The fact is that the only major country that has had relatively successful strategy against the virus is Japan. In Japanese culture people are taught from birth to trust the government and to make any sacrifice necessary for the good of the country. They also put the safety of their own citizens first, regardless of whether someone thinks that's "racist." That's why their population was ready to accept full authoritarian lock down before the pandemic spread and nobody was accused of being a "misogynist" when they shut their borders. But even in Japan the number of cases has been growing steadily and it appears that all they've really done is slow it down.

The fact is that its highly unlikely that a different president or different public policies would have had any major influence on the spread of this virus. That's why there's been large outbreaks in blue states like Washington, California & New York, as well as Red states such as Texas and Florida. It is directly proportional to the number and size of large cities, not the political party.

Trump is responsible for half of them, if one was to compare the death per million population for neighboring Canada, for instance.

And that is assuming that Canada was doing everything right.

Since absolutely nobody on the face of planet Earth has invented any kind of vaccine or any kind of a treatment for covid you can't blame Donald Trump for even one death if there was a cure or if there was a viable treatment for it and somehow Donald Trump had kept that person from getting to that treatment then he would bear some culpability but since there is no treatment there is no cure there is no vaccine Trump bears zero responsibility whatsoever

Asking these left-wing dullards to think rationally is doomed to fail.  They don't have the ability.

They lie, dissemble, mumble excuses and spew inanities all to deflect from their inability to offer a rational, substantiated and fact-based claim.

@I see all, you dissembling fool, when your fellow leftists on here blame Trump for ALL the COVID deaths, that is EXACTLY what they are doing.  The only thing you see is your lower intestine because your head is apparently jammed deeply up your butt.

"Just trying to quantify Trump's culpability."    Liar.  That's not at all what you're trying to do.   You already have an opinion on how many Covid deaths you think Trump is responsible for.

Using hyperbole to refute hyperbole does not equal victory.    It just makes you hyperbolic.

There is absolutely no one who has said there would be no deaths if Hillary had been president. It's a pandemic, of course people are dying. trump's delay in responding to the crisis, his lies about testing and the virus  "miraculously disappearing" slowed down the response. He needs to own that much.
