How is it that grasses grow back after being cut?

    Because the meristem - where growth occurs, in grasses is at the base of the leaf. So you can cut the top of the leaves, and they still grow, from the base.

    In contrast, trees and shrubs, for example, generally grow from the ends of the branches, so they are set back more growth-wise if you cut them.

    apparently grass seeds are quite hard therefore they are more hardy and can take all sorts of punishment.

    Kill the grass roots or turn your lawn into a sod pasture and harvest the sod, and sell to rich people.
