For disliking the word "family," you certainly used it enough in your post.

T.C., you don't give any details as to why you're so enraged when someone brings up the word "family" to you.  Are your family members abusive to you, are you isolated from your family, or what?  If you don't want to have anything to do with your family because of some incident that has happened, or you feel they are unsupportive of you, then you can certainly want to strive to be as independent and responsible for yourself as possible.  However, to become so angry that you "want to punch someone's teeth out" just because the word "family" is mentioned, suggests that there are deep-seated problems for which you need some professional help.  I would suggest that you go to your local MH/MR county office, and ask if there is someone you can talk to about dealing with this anger.  Also, maybe your dr. can help you with some medication for depression.  A lot of people are going through anxiety and depression because of the isolation forced on them by the COVID-19 situation.  There is help out there.  People just have to ask for it.  Good luck to you.
