Should I Invest now?

I have inherited a sizable chunk of money and wish to incorporate it into my existing  portfolio.  I could have my broker invest it now or wait until after the election.  What would be my best choice?

I would wait, since the US election will take a toll on ALL economies around the world.

imo you might be better off buying a house. Or else, try to time the market by buying in a "dip."

What are you going to invest it in?    Individual stocks?   Mutual funds?   Taxable accounts?

I think stocks could be pretty volatile in the next couple months due to covid and the election.

If you're planning to do stock mutual funds, consider the capital gains distributions that are made in December.   You don't want to buy a taxable distribution without experiencing the gain that led to it.

I might be tempted to move a bit in now especially if I had not yet maxed any available Roth options.   If you make too much for Roth or your employer doesn't have a Roth 401k option, it's a non-issue.

And other than that, I'd not feel bad about waiting for a dip.
