They are a hate group to be avoided. Moreover, they have a false gospel of works for salvation. I have never heard any WBC folks proclaim the truth that eternal life is an absolutely free gift received through faith in Jesus Christ. Their erroneous message basically boils down to "turn or burn!" They wrongly define repentance as "turning from sins." Biblical repentance is a "change of mind" from unbelief to belief in Jesus Christ as Savior.

Because we have all sinned against a perfectly holy and righteous God, we all deserve eternal separation from God in hell (Rom. 6:23). However, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross as our Substitute so we don't have to go to hell. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave three days later (1 Cor. 15:3-4). He gives eternal life freely to anyone who simply believes in Him for it. No one can be saved by doing good works. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9).

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" (John 6:47).

I think they're absolute scumbags and hateful, vile creatures.  They apparently miss most of the teachings of their alleged savior, favoring, instead, to judge others and to be deliberately hateful.  I've said it before, and I think it bears repeating, that if my son had died while serving in Afghanistan, and those jerkoffs showed up at his funeral, I would gladly go to prison for assault and battery, at the very least, for beating the heck out of as many of them as I could lay my hands on.

I've heard that they are in fact kind of a legal scam for making money via vexatious litigation and not a genuine religious organisation.  If you look at a cult like Scientology, they are clearly able to make a lot of money from their litigation, and I don't know how it would work but it's interesting that Fred Phelps used to be a civil rights lawyer who was disbarred in 1977.  He's now dead, but you know, I just wonder if they're really what they seem to be.

These is is a family of advocates (or trolls) using the name of Christian for gain by annoying people with insults and then suing them, at least that was a while ago. That it is a false church.

Ironically its founder Fred Phelps was excommunicated by them before his death.

Single group of a couple hundred people who have some real issues.

Has not been of any important since its founder dies in 2014 and the church was split by relatives trying to take his place.
