Is it safe to ferment with opened yeast ?

I opened a packet of yeast a week ago and closed it by rolling up the top and using a bag clip. I decided to use it to ferment some juice yesterday and I dumped it in. Is that safe or is there too high of a chance dangerous bacteria infected the yeast?

Update:

*update* I didn’t have much equipment i just dumped the yeast and sugar in the bottle the juice came in. How would I kill the bacteria in the juice?

Yes it,s quite “safe” - yeast can't be “infected by dangerous bacteria” (unless you were a scientist skilled in germ warfare or something).

If, as I suspect, you used bakers' yeast, that would be the least of your worries. I'd bet that you didn't sanitize your equipment or kill off the bacteria in the juice either.

If it were cake yeast, that could be an outside possibility but if you used dry active or rapid-rise fast acting yeast, then I say it's completely safe because bacteria likes damp and warm places which a closed packet of dry yeast does not offer.
