Why are MLB Managers babying their Pitchers?

Boone mad a critical mistake by stating a 21 year old rookie instead of Happ. Jayce of San Diego used nine Pitchers. Pitchers in the Playoffs should go 7 Innings, not 1 and burnout your Bullpen. Dusty Baker got it right yesterday by letting the Starter Valdez go 7 Innings 103 Pitches for the win. Great job Dusty. The LDS is best of 5. Each win is important and these Pitchers have no excuse after playing a 60 Game Season.

Update:

"...starting..."

Update 2:

I’ve been watching MLB since 1972. Managers of today with their Analytics and Exit Velocity, Launch Angle, have become soft. Give me a Walter Alston, Tommy Lasorda, Earl Weaver, Billy Martin, Casey Stengel, Gene Mauch, Sparky Anderson, Dick Williams, Chuck Tanner, Dusty Baker, Joe Torre, Bobby Valentine any day over these horrible Managers of today.

Update 3:

I am not a Yankees fan. I am pointing out how these new type Managers are making dumb moves with their Starting Pitchers.

Your first sentence is hilarious. The rookie didn't give up two home runs, your boy Happ did.

You corrected "starting" but not "made"?

If Boone "babied" anyone, it was Happ.  Garcia was there for one inning just to get the Rays to put a bunch of lefties in the starting lineup, then he put Happ in.

Why have so many pitchers if you aren't going to use them?

I don't know what the rest of the rant was about.  Each win is important?  No kidding.  That's why managers will go to their pen so much.  They aren't worried about saving them for later in the season.  Pitchers have no excuse?  No excuse for what?  None of them told the manager to take them out because they were tired.

I'd explain more, but if you don't even know what Boone did, you probably wouldn't understand.

(It wasn't that long ago that someone would be whining about taking a pitcher out after 7 and only 103 pitches)

EDIT:  OK, so the last update translates to "I'm pretty old and can't comprehend advanced stats".  Which I guess makes sense considering the rambling.
