So you have a church that looks like a mansion inside. Are you trying to impress God / draw in more people?
I don't really think God gives a rip about how beautiful it is on the inside. An old country church with cracked plaster, worn and dinged up pews or any church for that matter would serve the purpous. Beauty has nothing to do with it. I think God would have rather seen the money spent more wisely on the poor / for good of the community etc. Then if the purpose is to draw in more people, thats like dangling a carrot in front of the donkey so he will pull the cart.
I would say to draw in more people.
Veschengro Could you word it any different and still get the point across????

Perhaps such a church should use any surplus money on helping those in need rather than opulence.

Horse poop. Reread the Old Testament passages that describe the temples He commanded be built.

It shows that Christian churches are of Satan.
Jesus wore rags and lived in poverty, yet Christian clergy dress in opulent, expensive, gaudy robes during services. And the services are often held in flashy, mansion like churches worth millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$ each.
Christianity = a tool of Satan.

Church buildings are not needed at all. A few families can meet in each other's houses from week to week, and possibly watch a sermon online -- which need not be live.

I recommend The White Tail Chapel in Virginia. It's a simple little white building and not the least bit pretentious.
It's also a nude church but that's the way God made us.

That is often called “The Judas Argument“
“When Mary Magdalene annoints the feet of Jesus with costly oil, notice Judas' reaction: isn't to praise her generosity. Judas steps in to criticize her for using it for Jesus and not selling the oil and giving the money to the poor (Jn 12: 1- 11)
Notice then Jesus” reaction and words. Jesus then says to Judas “you will always have the poor but you will not always have me”.
Jesus places importance of devoting costly things to God over the poor”

Throughout most of history the two richest classes of people were the King and his highest ranked nobles and the priesthood. Even today, being a church is extremely lucrative. Investing in a magnificent building was just an expression of that wealth and corruption.

If it’s looks like a mansion I’m going to lock the doors and own it
