Simple algebra question (and it's not homework)?

Can one of you clever people please help solve this equation for f? Assume x, y, and K are real number constants if that helps, but it's fine to leave them as variables. And no, it's not a graded schoolwork problem of any sort.

     1 - x² y² (f²)² = K x² ( f²)...quadratic in f²...let f² = w ..1 - x² y² w² - K x² w = 0

    thus w = { - (- K  x²) ± √ [ (- K x²)² - 4 (- x² y²)( 1 ) ] } / { 2(- x² y²) }....f = ± √w
