Revelation 4:11 says that God receives power. How does God receive power if he's God?

Since Jesus is eternally begotten of God the Father, Jesus remains obedient to his father and accomplishes the divine will of his father. Jesus perfectly completed everything his father asked of him and now, receives power to continue on. It's merely another way of saying that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are perfectly united in all things.

    I believe the intent is:

    - some men voluntarily give you power over themselves

    thus, God "receives" that power.

    Likewise: glory and honor.

It says you are worthy to receive power.  This is not conveying power to God as your question infers.  A king may have power, but he may not be worthy to wield such power due to a deficiency of character.  However, I do think it is a great question.

Revelation 4:11 states that God is "worthy" to receive "glory and honour and power". The verse is stating that God is worthy to be God and have the power of God.

Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

It's referring to the purest of worship, in receiving it, not like the Energizer bunny, not the same thing. It's the position of those worshiping to OFFER such attributes.
