Was it wrong of my uncle? Is he playing his role well? Is disciplining me his role?

My uncle thinks that phones, i pads and video games are all bad and are ONLY used for entertainment. He holds the view that entertainment is ALWAYS wrong and it makes you dumb. My uncle shouts on me, call me names like useless, good for nothing and a slob. There have been numerous instances where he has snatched my screen because he doesn’t like me using gadgets. He has a poor understanding of how gadgets work and views them as toys that goofballs use. Little does he know that they can be used to study, to be in touch with the world and to learn new things. I use my gadgets for entertainment and to study philosophy which my favourite hobby. I try defending my position to him but scoffs at me and dismissing my defence by saying that he wont buy into my lame excuses. He says that hates kids using phones but he is LOT more relaxed with his kids in this regard. I mean has no cool gadgets of his own and his kids borrow mine to use and play games on, but my uncle tends to go easy on them. The moment they return my gadget the uncle immediately steps in takes it by force and give me a scolding.

Do you think it's his place to discipline me? Do i owe him anything? Is my phone usage his business? Why do you think he doesn’t mind his doing the same **** that i do?
